Abstract
Literary texts, particularly within resistance literature, transcend their immediate aesthetic and stylistic functions to become fertile intellectual spaces for the production of ideology, the formulation of complex mental representations of power, and the consolidation of symbolic dominance mechanisms that frame the recipients perception of reality and shape collective consciousness regarding current issues. In this context, discourse analysis emerges as an effective critical approach to understanding literary texts by deconstructing their linguistic levels and linking them to their social, cultural, and ideological contexts. The studys research problem lies in demonstrating how power and ideology manifest within the linguistic structure of resistance poetry, and determining the effectiveness of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) tools in interpreting these manifestations. Accordingly, this study aims to analyze the poem Amir al-Muminin (To Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah) by the Palestinian poet Tamim al-Barghouti (born 1977), who is renowned for his prominent standing in resistance poetry, in order to uncover the discursive strategies that construct ideological meaning within the text. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical methodology based on Teun van Dijks framework for Critical Discourse Analysis. It examines the ideological strategies represented by the ideological square, alongside the textual and rhetorical levels associated with lexical choices and micro-linguistic structures, thereby facilitating an understanding of the interaction between discourse and its social context. The findings indicate that the poet employs the suggestive title, carefully selected vocabulary, and rhetorical figures to highlight the positive presentation of the Palestinian Self and enhance its symbolic presence, while emphasizing the negative attributes of the Occupying Other. Furthermore, the discourse fosters a spirit of hope and consolidates the vision of resistance in the recipient, demonstrating the efficacy of Critical Discourse Analysis in exploring power dynamics and the latent ideological dimension within poetic texts.
